For the first time in more than 30 years, there's a real chance that a MLB team may be available to relocate to Oregon. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has publicly stated there will be relocation. And with the 2002 MLB labor agreement preventing contraction of teams through at least 2006, relocation of two or more teams becomes highly likely in the next year or two. And Portland is a nationally recognized candidate to become the home for one of these teams.
