Frequently Asked Questions

Our Organization

Portland’s on deck to become the next city to receive a Major League Baseball team. The Portland Baseball Group is working hard to make this happen. We are a 501©4 non-profit corporation made up of local civic and business leaders. We’re contributing our time and money to bring America’s favorite past time to the Rose City.

Sure, we love baseball – the thwack of the bat hitting the ball, the smell of roasted peanuts and hot dogs, hopes of catching a foul ball – but we also believe that a Major League Baseball team will make Portland a better place to live.

For the first time in over 30 years, Portland is at bat to score a Major League Baseball team. The 2002 MLB labor agreement prevents the contraction of teams through at least 2006, which would allow for relocation of two or more teams within the next two years. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has publicly stated there will be relocation and Portland is a nationally recognized candidate to become the home for one of these teams.

Join us in making history!

Join us in raising awareness of the economic and lifestyle benefits that Portland will reap from Major League Baseball. We welcome volunteers who can help us publicize our efforts, participate in community outreach programs and raise funds through events and donations.
