HOK has surveyed Portland for possible stadium locations and, using their knowledge of Portland
demographics and MLB preferences in ballpark design, has produced preliminary criteria for a new downtown
ballpark. They have identified multiple favorable sites, one of which will be ultimately decided upon by
ownership in conjunction with local and state officials, pending state and local funding approvals.
At a total estimated cost of $350 million, HOK's initial design for a Portland stadium calls for 40,000 seats,
including 60 luxury suites and 5,000 club seats. The current design does not include a retractable roof as the
feature adds substantial cost and is unnecessary based on initial review of Portland's rainfall. A retractable
roof also would compromise the old-time ballpark style inherent in the current design.
